I’m an explorer. Many people might misconstrue this trait as being a symptom of a fickle heart, a flighty soul, a disingenuous mind. Of course, I’m none of these things, but people tend not to like it if you’re all in about certain things only to cool then disengage over the things that they’re still attached to.
I’m an explorer. I have travelled in different circles, met different people, and gotten to know things once foreign and strange.
I cherish the things I’ve learned.
What people may not understand is that I’m always looking for the next thing I need to understand, to immerse myself in, to transform my outlook with.
The things that I dive deeply and intensely into are never discarded.
The things I experience, be they cultural, ritual or historical become part of who I am. These things are transmuted into gems that are very much a part of my soul, my being, my compass for future travels.
To those who see me pack my bags and move on to the next thing, realize that I’m building the bridge that I hope will bring various tribes together. But, in order to finish my task, I must discover the lands and people I have yet to know.
I may not be able to stay in your orbit, but I promise that I will write.
I always do.
